Take advantage of a scholarship opportunity through the American Society for Quality (ASQ). This is a $500 scholarship that can be used for anything the student needs. There are only a few requirements: 1. Applicant must be recommended by a current member of the Pennyrile ASQ Section 922; 2. Applicant must be a high school graduate; 3. Applicant must be pursuing a post-secondary degree or certificate program in any discipline; 4.Scholarships will relate to programs being pursued in the Scholarship Year defined as the period starting July 1st and ending June 30th of the following year. Deployment Update: Currently, Fort Campbell has nearly 16,000 soldiers deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. 2,500 additional soldiers will deploy over the next six weeks. |

| Continuing the Conversation: As a direct result of the Community Education Summit, Dr. Jesse Register, former superintendent of Hamilton County (TN) Schools will conduct a community meeting on Tuesday, March 25 from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Christian County High School that will be open to the public.
Dr. Register spent ten years as superintendent in Hamilton County Schools, where he was instrumental in helping schools attract and retain high-quality teachers, improve student performance and close achievement gaps. After concluding his work in Hamilton County, Dr. Register joined the faculty at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for the fall semester of 2007, as visiting Associate Professor of Urban Education in the Graduate Studies Division. He also serves as Senior Advisor for District Leadership at the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University, a role in which he consults with school leaders and districts across the country on issues of district re-design, high school reform, improving urban education and leading change in school districts.
The following morning, March 26, Dr. Register will work exclusively with Christian County Public School staff. |

| Project Playground: Kid Designed, Community Built: The Fundraising Committee has been hard at work gathering pledges toward our $175,000 project goal. The build will take place over five days: April 30 through May 4, 2008! Volunteer assistance is critical to making this project happen. Volunteer forms are due by March 31, 2008. Nineteenth Annual Quilt Show: Beginning Monday, April 7, 2008, and continuing through April 26, 2008, Pennyroyal Area Museum will feature its Nineteenth Annual Quilt Show. The museum welcomes the opportunity to include quilt owners, or quilt makers who would like to participate in our annual show by temporarily loaning their quilts to the museum. The participants may bring their quilts in during the first week of April and pick them up during the last week of April. Quilts may be old or new.
A Quilting Bee is also planned for Saturday, April 19, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The museum is located is located at 217 East 9th Street, downtown Hopkinsville. Business hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; Saturday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. For further information, call (270) 887-4270. |

Texas Hold'em Tournament: Hopkinsville-Christian County Jaycees are hosting a Texas Hold'em Tournament on April 26, 2008. The tournament will be at the James E Bruce Convention Center from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Registration will be 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. the day of the event. | Derby Arts Festival: On Saturday, May 3, 2008, The Hopkinsvile Art Guild, in collaboration with the City of Hopkinsville, the Pennyrile Academy of Fine Arts, Christian County Extension 4-H program, White Drive Products, area schools and the Public Library, are hosting the first Derby Arts Festival.
